Celebrating Melissa

If you were fortunate enough to know Melissa, you know that she never met a stranger. She had an extraordinary gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and loved. Whether you knew her for thirty years or thirty minutes, you walked away feeling like you had gained a friend.

Melissa believed that life was meant to be lived fully. She loved adventures both big and small—traveling to new places, discovering local restaurants, tending her garden, relaxing by the pool, and never missing the chance to watch a beautiful sunset. Some of her happiest moments were simply spending time with the people she loved, especially the annual Thanksgiving gatherings in Stillwater that she looked forward to every year.

Throughout her life, Melissa collected friends wherever her journey took her. From her years in the Air Force, to her career in technology, to her work as a health and life coach, she formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. She often said that her friends were family, and she lived those words every day.

Helping others wasn't just something Melissa did—it was who she was. Whether she was encouraging someone through a difficult season, celebrating a victory, or quietly offering support when it was needed most, she always found a way to make another person's burden a little lighter.

That same spirit became the heart of the James Experience Foundation. As its President and Co-Founder, Melissa helped create a community dedicated to supporting individuals and families facing medical challenges with compassion, hope, and practical assistance. She believed that no one should have to face life's hardest moments alone.

Although Melissa's earthly journey ended on July 29, 2026, her story continues through every life she touched. It lives on in the friendships she nurtured, the love she shared so freely, the foundation she helped build, and the countless acts of kindness inspired by her example.

If Melissa made a difference in your life, we invite you to honor her in the way she would have wanted: love deeply, help someone in need, gather with family and friends, never miss an opportunity to watch a beautiful sunset, and whenever possible, leave the world just a little better than you found it.
